When to Buy Versus Adopting a Cat

Once you have decided to welcome a cat into your home, to be a member of your family, the next questions is where to get the cat from? Should you purchase a cat from a breeder? A pet store? (A reputable breeder is a much better and much safer choice than a pet store) Or maybe you should adopt a cat from a shelter, or from another faily.

If you’re looking for a purebred cat to take to cat shows then there is no question that you will probably wind up dealing with an expensive purchase, but if you don’t really care about the purebred status of a cat then your options are wide open.

Acquiring your cat from a reputable breeder, (again, a caution about buying a cat from a pet store, in the US at least, many of these cats come from kitten mills where the cats are raised in deplorable conditions) can have some benefits. Many breeders offer a guarantee, and you can research past generations for health issues as well.

Some people are very set on a particular breed. Or a particular personality trait. One way to get what they want is to buy a cat from a breeder, however, most cat breeds are available for adoption, and getting hte personality you want may be easier with an adult cat than with a kitten.

Adopting a cat does not reduce the possibilities of getting the kind of cat you are wanting. All kinds of cats in just about all breeds are available for adoption. A plus to adopting a cat that has had a previous owner is that they are already litter box trained, and it is easier to get a feel for their personality when they are past the kitten stage.

Many of the cats at the shelter come witha full history. Important information as to how they deal with children or other pets, such as your dog. Adopting a cat in the shelter also mean you have given a precious feline another lease at a great life. With all the cats at shelters, millions of them are euthanized each year. Saving a cats life can be very gratifying.

You can also find a cat that is looking for a new family by scouting the ads in the local papers. Or post a notice in your local grocery store. Many cats have to be relinquished due to a divorce, allergies, death of the owner, changed living conditions, etc.

The advantage of adotping a cat from the shelter is that the cat will have had it’s health evaluated. Adopting a cat from a family mean you have no idea if there are underlying health problems.

If you are undecisive whether you should adopt a kitty, or purchase one from a breeder, do not worry. Cats have an uncanny way of coming into our lives in just the perfect way. You can start exploring both options, and before you know it your absolutely purrfect furbaby will find you.

Warranty Coverage & Customer Service: We know this is the least exciting subject of our review, but in the long run, one of the more important. Massage chairs are becoming more complex with both computers and more sophisticated movements. Although quality levels are always increasing, things can sometimes just go wrong. What is the warranty coverage for the DLX? Omega provides you with five years of coverage for structure, three years for parts and labor and ninety days of in home field service. This certainly is one of the best warranties in its class. On the service side, Omega is technically competent and issues are resolved quickly. Overall, we give the DLX a 19 for its warranty coverage and customer service.

Comfort & Ergonomics: This is a vitally important category for your long term comfort needs. For you to relax, a massage chair needs to fit the body, so you are comfortable. The design of the chair needs to facilitate that all controls are easily accessed. The DLX is well designed from this perspective. The seat is plush as well as the back pad. There are a series of pads for the back. There is a removable back pad, the main back pad, a neck pad and a head pillow. These are adjustable to suit your needs. All of the functions of the chair can be operated from the main remote. There is a hidden panel in the middle of the slim controller for manual operations and for the music controls. We rate the DLX an 18 for comfort and ergonomics.

Ease of Use: New technologies and features are being added into massage chairs at an incredible pace. It is important that manufacturers keep the design of their remotes and other controls simple and intuitive for users. The remote of the DLX has one touch automatic programs. It also has a cover on the remote which can be opened and manual controls are located inside. Controls are simple with only one to two presses to get any major massage function going. We rate the ease of use as an 18 for the DLX.

Key Features: The key features that stand out in the M5000 DLX are the lower body air massage with the reflexology foot massage and the lower back massage. The air massage system consists of an air compressor that inflates specially designed airbags. The airbags for the foot massage have reflexology nodules. These nodules stimulate your trigger points on your feet to induce your whole body to relax. The lower back massage provides a penetrating massage to the lumbar area. The DLX reaches down to the lower parts of the lumbar with deep and penetrating strokes that provide substantial relief. We give the DLX an 18 for its key features.

Massage Therapy: We will state right off the bat that the M5000 DLX is the strongest and most penetrating massage chair on the market today. The DLX comes with layers of padding to soften massage. This allows those more sensitive to also enjoy the chair, but also more importantly it allows those that need a deep penetrating massage to obtain it now and in the future. The automatic pre-programs are perhaps the best designed massage programs available with techniques not available in other chairs. The lower body is covered with the air massage system which can target together or individually the feet, calves, thighs and buttocks. We give the DLX an 18 for massage therapy.

The M5000 DLX from Omega rates a 91/100 in our evaluation. We particularly like the contemporary design with the highly varnished wood armrests and wood grain side panels. Also, Omega uses top grain ox hide leather. This finely crafted massage chair also comes with a backlit LCD controller. You get one of the most penetrating massage therapies with this massage chair. The programming of the massage treatments is as good as it gets. For total relaxation, put on the headphones and relax with your favorite tunes with the built in MP3 player. This massage chair recliner is certainly a powerhouse of massage therapy that will give you years of comprehensive and effective relief.

Cheap High Street Hair Care Products a False Economy?

Great looking hair that is really healthy and clean makes you feel better about yourself and makes you look healthier and cleaner to other people. Keeping your hair looking this way is important, and using good quality hair products such as shampoo and conditioner is vital. But when it’s time to buy your hair care products, how do you know which are the best ones to use?

Cheap hair products available from the average high street store might appear to be better value for money because of their lower cost, while professional salon hair care products often appear to be pricier, with the average salon hair products priced at $20/GBP10, and a similar size cheap hair care product costing $4/GBP2.

On just this kind of price comparison alone, it appears that the cheap high street hair products are the winners as you are getting 5 times as much product for the same cost, or the same amount of product for 1/5 the price of the salon professional hair care products.

When you look more closely at the comparison between the effectiveness and the quality of high street hair products and salon hair products, does the comparison end up in the favour of cheap hair care products, or do the cheaper high street products turn out to be a false economy?

To see if cheaper high street hair products provide more value for money in both the short and long term when compared with professional salon hair care products, we made the decision to test them both to see how each of the hair products compare against one another in a quality test.

We tested a 300ml bottle of shampoo from the high street and a 300ml salon professional shampoo. With the high street product a 50ml application is standard to clean hair where with the professional product a 10ml application was all that was required to clean the hair to the same standard.

The high street hair shampoo, using a 50ml application, provides 6 applications per 300ml bottle (approximately). The professional shampoo, using a 10ml application, provides around 30 applications per 300ml. Hence the high street shampoo worked out at $0.64c/GBP0.32p whilst the professional shampoo came in at $0.66c/GBP0.33p.

Conclusion: although cheap hair care products initially seem a better deal and provide more value, in reality there is virtually no difference in price when it comes to the economics of professional salon hair care products. And? when you include the much higher quality, the greater effectiveness and visual results, and the deeper and more thorough cleansing and conditioning of salon hair care products, buying cheaper high street hair products in favour of salon hair products is a complete false economy.
