Making a Gift Basket For a Special Person

Receiving a gift basket is great fun. Althoug making your own, whether for business or personal enjoyment is greatly satisfying. Let your creative side free when making your gift baskets. All your craftmaking skills are brought to bear. If you have never made your own gifts it can be quite confusing knowing where to start. The good news is that there are plenty of ideas out there that you can use for yourself.  Some choices you can have include a gift basket of wine and chocolate gift baskets.

First, choose a theme. A gift basket can have any theme you wish. Have a family member who’s an avid reader? Consider a gift basket full of books and top it off with a little book light. In addition to the books, some chocolate may be nice so that they can devour it whilst reading their books. Or perhaps the person your are gifting the basket to enjoys playing a game of chess… You could include a mini chess set for traveling and perhaps some books on how to improve their game.

Once you have completed this you can move onto designing your basket. Sketch out, on paper or just in your mind, what you’ll need to execute your gift basket idea. Make a list of materials, sizes and tools. When you have thought this through it’s now time for you to get shopping. See, this is fun already.

You’ll need a basket, of course. That can be anything that will hold the items – a traditional wicker container, an antique coffee can, an ancient toy bucket or a contemporary planter. Try to find something that complements your theme.

Once you have the container and the items, you’ll usually want to be able to wrap everything up. One of the most popular products for wrapping up a gift basket is cellophane. However you could also choose wax paper which is great to work with but also adds an extra element of surprise in terms of opening it.
