The top guns in this arena; AT&T, Verizon, Blackberry all have similar cell phone plans that cost the user a minimum monthly fee of around forty dollors – which includes a certain amount of usage, and then charge other fees for calls at different times and with certain fee structures (see table following).

But now you can also go with prepaid similar to the one Net10 has. There is still a monthly fee, but with the case of Net10, it starts at $15/month which is for 150 minutes of call time. So that works out at a per minute cost of 10c – and that is the cost no matter how many minutes you use.

Now 2.5 hours a month is not very many- only about 5 minutes per 24 hours – but you can add on time either online, by calling a tollfree number or at a large selection of large retail stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart. To keep your account current, you have to purchase at least $15/month (150 mins). If, for some reason, you do not use the minimum amount of minutes, any unused minutes willaccrue, so you don’t lose them.

Coverage is all all over the US, with some very small exceptions- like rural Alaska – just like every Wireless phone service.
