When looking at your jewellery, do you ever consider what it’s worth? By the value of each piece of jewellery, I am refering to the price you could sell it for today, rather than the price you actually bought it from the store.

Attempting to come across this figure is harder than you may think, this is because there are a number of considerations to think about. You have to remember though that when you bought that lovely piece of silver jewellery, you payed the price that the shop was selling it for, which is not the price it’s worth.

When you buy jewellery from a store, you have to pay the price that the manufacturer charged the store, plus a mark up fee that the store puts on to make a profit. This figure is very hard to find out, but an even harder figure is the mark up that the manufacturer puts on the product. The manufacturer will put their own mark up onto the item to make sure they make a profit on it.

Due to all of the above factors, you never pay the true value of the jewellery, so what is it really worth? The biggest factor when valuing your jewellery is the actual value of the raw materials. Say you have some silver gemstone jewellery or silver pendants. You can weigh the precious metals and once you have obtained the weight, you can find the current value of that metal to find out how much it’s worth. Jewels and other materials on the jewellery will affect the price, if you are unsure of how to value jewels, a local jeweller can value them for you.

When you find the value of the raw materials, it will come as a shock, this is because the raw materials value will only be about 10 to 15% of the price you payed for the product. However, you will have to consider some other factors that will have an effect on the value of your jewellery.

Some other factors that need to be considered, one being sentimental value, this will increase the value you think the jewellery is worth. The manufacturer is also a factor that you need to take into account. If the manufacturer is famous or popular, this would add considerable value to your jewellery. This value is hard to work out because the way the manufacturer become popular varies, it could be the quality of work, or if a celebrity has been seen wearing it.

Overall the value of your jewellery will be less than the price you payed for it in the first place. Unfoturenate but true, it’s the way the jewellery stores make their money.

More and more nowadays we are seeing an increase in the amount of jewellery out on the market and more so the amount available to men ranging from rings to silver jewellery and it is also important to note that no longer are these seen as a bit camp or wrong looking on men they are actually seen to be quite fashionable in some cases and may even boost self confidence.

Although there are still many pieces of jewellery out there still solely for women such as silver pendants ( I am not sure any man is going to wear one of these) it is also important to note that many pieces of jewellery are made just for men ranging from rings to  the all important watch.

Even  silver necklaces are being worn by men nowadays just adding to the emphasis on how far jewellery has come for men over the past few years. The reasons for this is simply that people are keeping with the times and the times as it seems at the moment is for men to wear some jewellery and it does in some cases actually work quite well.

Of course you do have to suspect something is seriously wrong when a man starts going through your gemstone jewellery to see what he likes but if this doesn’t happen you certainly do not have anything to worry about as it is the norm to wear things like silver necklaces, rings and  even a form of earring (stud) now for men.

Do not forget that next time you are out shopping for jewellery to look for something for your partner as they may actually be interested in what you are buying (of course it is a joke). There are plenty of different brands of jewellery out there for both men and women so there is no need to start a fight on whose jewellery is whose. Although if something like this does happen you might want to consider what on earth is going on.

After looking into the subject I have noticed that a lot more men are willing to wear things like silver rings nowadays and this is actually down to many different things.

Style

Because there is so much change in the world it can be said that the styles are changing too which is why it is far more acceptable nowadays. Twenty years ago it would almost be very unacceptable for a guy to go around wearing his favourite silver earrings but nowadays it is a lot more common to see a guy wearing various bits of jewellery. Of course if you think back to the 80’s the only people that really worse jewellery were the people in the crazy pop videos and of course the people following them.

Acceptable

It is certainly safe to say that there are far more people that are ready to accept different groups than their used to be and this is certainly a good thing. Although there are still many groups such as CHAVS that are still not and hopefully never will be accepted there are other groups such as Emo’s, Goth’s and Hippies that many people actually accept.

What Do You Do If Your Partner Has Asked For Jewellery?

If your male partner has actually asked you for a bit of jewellery this Christmas then there is no need to pani ac plenty of men wear jewelllery right. It seems to be one of those things that has just come back into fashion which is why you will see a lot of men wearing mens jewellery so don’t worry!

How far is too far?

The only point in which you really need to start worrying is if he starts to have a favourite piece of jewellery or something like that, this is not a good sign at all!

Because there are so many different types od jewellery out there it can be very difficult indeeed to decide on what piece to get your partner. Here are just a few ideas thrown out there if you havent quite managed to get your loved one that present yet. ( you are running out of time)

Proposal?

Of course if you are really serioud about your relationship then you should perhaps think about asking your partner to marry you female or male. Yes I said him too because there is nothing wrong with a woman asking a guy to marry her! Although something like this should most certainly be a surprise it can be said, without a doubt you should know that the both of you want to spend the rest of your lives together.

Something Special

If like many people you are not at the stage where you have even thought about getting on one knee then you could get something like a pendant. This is a really cool idea for a couple that havent spent that long together, it still shows that you really care. I would not recommend getting mens jewellery for your man if you have just started going out because I am not sure they would be the type of guy to enjoy wearing it.

Been Together A While?

There is nothing wrong with going after jewellery if you are married or have been together for quite some time and the best route to go down is usually something along the lines of silver rings as it would seem that many, many women love their silver jewellery.

If you have still not mamaged to go out and get your christmas present for your partner yet there is no need to worry as there is still time left.

Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt

Is it possible these two people have something out that we dont know about? Yes they have their own jewellery range and Apprently it is actually quite popular. I bet poor Jennifer Aniston is still not seeing any money from this.

Lily Allen

The great thing about Lily is that she goes around wearing the things in her line which I think is pretty awesome as it at least means she cares about the things she designs. A great thing about this jewellery is that it is actually quite affordable which is good for the times in the way that they are at the moment.

Alesha Dixon

Alesha was of course in a band before she made it solo and although I cannot say that I am a big fan of her music I will say that I could actually buy some of her jewellery for my girlfriend. I would certainly not say that this jewellry is as good asLily Allen’s but I will say that it is very stylish and once again very affordable.

Should you really be throwing money at these celebrities? Well I don’t think that it is always a good idea to buy things that celebrities indorse because you are just giving people more money however with certain people like Dixon and Allen who try really hard to get somewhere I think that if you like the jewellery you should in fact just go for it.

So when you are in the town and you are looking for a piece of jewellery why not look into a bit of celebrity jewellery, some of it is actually very nice indeed
