Jump Start Your Business’ Internet Marketing Strategy with P.T.A

It is next to impossible for a business, speaker or author to operate at their full potential without using Internet marketing strategies as part of their overall plan.  However, while most folks use the Internet for their personal needs, many have little idea how they can become more profitable using it for their products or services.

You may share the confusion of others as to how Internet marketing strategies can work for you and where to begin.

Regardless of what business you are in, the steps to Internet marketing success are very similar, and it might surprise you to learn they haven’t changed much in over a decade!  The challenge is that there are so many resources out there for the various steps in the process, with little education as to where each item fits in with other steps.

Don’t get hung up on the bits and pieces before you have established your P.T.A., the foundational steps needed to be successful in Internet Marketing:

P:  Plug-In

Examine where you currently fit in the Internet marketing process and “plug in” at that point.  Are you a complete beginner?  Or do you have some knowledge, but can’t seem to tie it all together?  If you can identify where you fit into the process, you will be better able to plug in to those tools and resources that you need to succeed.

T: Team-Up

The next and most important step for any small business owner, author or speaker is to team up with those that can help implement the process.  Unless you are making a living as a full blown Internet marketer, your principal business belongs out in the field doing your thing, not in front of the computer trying to figure it all out.  And most people’s strategy of hiring a random website designer from Craigslist or oversees just because they don’t cost much rarely works.

Your goal is to find outsourced help that is multi-dimensional in their knowledge and understanding of the Internet, as well as sensitive to your unique needs and concerns.  Your goal should be to form a dedicated team that will work with you as your business grows that can help you will all aspects of Internet marketing planning and strategies.

A:  Accelerate

If you get a website for your business or service without fully understanding the entire Internet marketing process, you will never be able to fully implement the last step, and accelerate your Internet marketing plans to success.  Learning a few strategies or techniques will only cause to confuse you until you have plugged into where you are in the overall process, and found resources and team members able to lead you to success.  Once you have done that, your business success from the Internet will start to fly.

You Can Create 20 Killer Benefit Statements in Copywriting For the Web in Just 20 Minutes

Thinking up great benefit statements has always been the most challenging part of copywriting for the web. And, second to the headline, the benefits are what sell people on your product, service, idea or even political opinion.

In comparison, the other parts of copywriting that people might find challenging, such as stories, headlines, and great price offers were easy. But creating a benefits list drove me crazy; that is until I learned how to come up with one or more benefits every minute.

Any basic sales course will tell you that features don’t sell a product or service, benefits do. Knowing the truth to that, I started to take a closer look at what benefits really are. They are just things that help you take (or not take action), right? For example, you “lose” weight or “make” money. If that is true, how bout starting each benefit statement with an action verb? The process goes like this:

1.  Get a long list of alphabetized action verbs.

2.  Display the alphabetized list of action verbs on your desk or, even better, view them on your computer screen so that you can see the list in its entirety
.
3.  Begin with the first verb in your list that begins with the letter A and read the verb out loud and make a sentence out of it that describes one benefit of your product.

For example, the first word in my list of verbs is “Accelerate”.

Then, my descriptive sentence might be that my service helps “accelerate” the time it takes to learn to read Spanish.

4.  Write benefits until you can’t think of any more, and don’t think of quitting early! You’ll weed out the benefits later that don’t have as much punch as you thought. Now is not the time either to worry if you are writing duplicative statements down. Just keep an open mind and write down any benefit statements that come to mind about your product or service.

5.  Prioritize your list with the most important benefit statements first and the least important last.

This process has worked for me to write great benefits statements, as well as when coming up with article ideas for my blog, such as “35 Reasons Why a Blog is Better than a Traditional Web Site for Your Business,” or “50 Ways to Kill a Perfectly Good Seminar”.

Use my list of verbs or create your own and start creating your killer benefit statements in just 20 minutes. In most cases, a good list of 20 benefits is all you will need for your sales page.

Why Internet Marketing Just WORKS

When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers – as we do – and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

Even though there are more sides to internet marketing than just email marketing (permission based), email has been the foundation that our business sits on.
